Kunchang is an outstanding music teacher. As beginning ukulele students, we now can play songs from Iz to Elvis, the Beatles to Bruno Mars. First and foremost, Kunchang designs our classes to incorporate music we like to play; we choose songs and he finds arrangements that work for us. Each class has elements of "stretching" to extend our skills. He encourages us to keep trying the hard-to-do chords and strumming to expand our ability to play any song we like. He asks what our musical goal is and teaches us techniques that will move us toward it. For us, the main goal is to successfully be able to "jam" -- with each other, with other ukulele players, or in a ukulele club. With Kunchang's guidance we'll be doing all three!
